COFFEE

Yes! All our coffee is ethically sourced, and our local farmers are treated with respect and compensated fairly. In fact, specialty coffee is traded on a much more personal level with farmers and cooperatives due to its superior quality, which usually results in a higher price for the farmer.

We work closely with our supply chain to minimize our impact on the environment and support sustainability at every level. Our farmers receive a fair price for their coffee which enables them to farm using sustainable methods, and through our partners, the coffee you buy supports World Coffee Research, a non-profit that assists farmers with the tools, knowledge, and plants necessary to adapt to the changing climate.

Specialty coffee is exactly that. It’s special. Specialty coffee refers to the highest grade of coffee available, that scores 80 points or above on a 100 point scale. It is not comparable to the coffee that you find in the grocery store or chain coffee shops. It is grown in unique microclimates, at altitudes that contribute to a distinctive flavor profile and complexity in the cup, ultimately creating a superior coffee that once tasted is difficult to go back from. Be warned!

Our green coffee beans are sourced from farmers and cooperatives around the world. They are imported into the U.S. where we craft-roast them to order in Southern California, before shipping them to you.

Great question! We source the very highest-grade coffee available, so it’s important to us that you get to taste this coffee at its very best. This is, in our opinion, around 5-7 days after roasting, and can be enjoyed for many weeks. We will roast your order within 1-3 business days meaning it will be delivered to you at its peak. Also, roasting to order is more sustainable, as it helps reduce waste in the process. So, it’s a win-win.

Simply put, specialty coffee is more expensive as it is a rarer product. The beans are grown in limited quantities in near perfect conditions and are craft-roasted to maximize the flavor potential. This is the highest-grade coffee available, so you are paying for the quality – which you can actually taste in every cup.

It sure is! We do not add any artificial flavorings to our coffees. Also, specialty-grade coffee is less likely to contain defects and usually has more antioxidants that other types of coffee.

Generally, whole bean coffee will maintain its flavor and freshness for longer than ground coffee. However, if you don’t have a grinder, ground coffee is perfectly acceptable and will still make an incredible cup of joe! Choose your grind based on your preferred brewing method for best results.

We recommend storing your coffee in an airtight container in a cool, dark place. Coffee stored correctly should still be enjoyable for at least 6-9 months.

Monkey Hanger coffee is only available online at this time. If you’re interested in retailing our coffee, check out our Wholesale page.

All of our coffee is roasted to order. When we receive your order, our roasters freshly roast your coffee within 1-3 business days. This ensures it’s delivered to you at its peak.

In the U.S., we offer free shipping for every order, no matter how much coffee you buy. In Canada, we use standard USPS rates which will be calculated based on what is in your cart. To get the best value, we suggest purchasing two or more 12 oz (340 gram) bags per order – or group your order with some mates and split the shipping fee. Read our shipping policy for more details.

You will receive a shipping notification email once your coffee has been roasted and dispatched. If, for some reason, you don’t receive this email within 5 days of placing your order, please email us quoting your order number.

MERCHANDISE

Sustainability is very important to us, and we have been deliberate in our supply chain decisions to minimize our impact, while still delivering great quality branded products.

Around 85% of all textiles produced by the fashion industry ends up in landfill, making it a major contributor to environmental damage. This is unacceptable in our opinion. As such, we have chosen to partner with on-demand suppliers, meaning that we only produce items as we receive orders for them. This avoids creating textile waste from overproduction.

We also have partnered with printers who use the latest printing technology which creates almost no wastewater and uses less energy than standard industry printers, helping to lower our carbon footprint.

Our apparel items are packed in post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastic mailers, which are made from everyday items, like used plastic bags and bottles. Choosing PCR over first-use plastics reduces the environmental impact on our planet.

Yes! Many of our printed products use the direct-to-garment (DTG) technique, where the ink is sprayed directly onto the garment and soaks into the fabric. The inks that we use for printing are Oeko-Tex™ certified, vegan, water-based and free of harmful chemicals. Any leftover ink is disposed of according to the ink supplier guidelines.

Embroidery generally is more durable and produces less environmental waste than other customization methods. We embroider our products with Oeko-Tex™ certified threads, which are safe for both adult and children’s clothing.

Our merchandise is available globally, so we use a sophisticated fulfilment network to produce your order as close to your location as possible. This reduces both the environmental impact from shipping as well as the time it takes for us to deliver the item to you.

All our merchandise items are made on demand, which means we will start working on it once you place your order. Fulfilment time will vary depending on the product(s) chosen and the fulfilment location. All merchandise orders ship free using the most appropriate courier and packaging for the item(s). You will receive an email shipping notification that will include the expected delivery date.

Our base products are supplied by multiple vendors so sizing can vary between products. We have included a size chart for all applicable items on the product pages for your reference.

All merchandise items ship free worldwide. You can find our complete shipping policy here

As all our items are made to order, we cannot accept exchanges or returns, unless the product is defective. We believe that the environmental benefits of on-demand production outweigh any possible inconvenience that this may cause. We include detailed item descriptions, images, and size charts on our product pages for your reference, and we are always happy to answer any questions you may have before ordering. Please review our returns policy for more details.

GIN

Our small batch gin has 40% alcohol volume.

No, never! We use only natural ingredients in our gins, such as natural botanicals, fruits, herbs and spices, sourced as locally as possible.

Small batch gin is made in small distilleries, usually by a master distiller using traditional techniques. It can also be referred to as craft or artisan gin. It usually – as in our case – uses only natural ingredients and only a limited quantity is made per batch to a unique recipe. This is the opposite of the commercial gins that you will find in the supermarket. These are mass-produced and may contain artificial flavorings or additives. Small batch gin is made with a greater attention to detail, and a lot of care and passion from the master distiller.

This is a matter of personal preference (no judgement here!), but we enjoy sipping our gin on the rocks, or with some Mediterranean tonic and a twist of citrus peel.

Where do we start?! Our gin is truly unique, made to a custom recipe that you won’t find anywhere else. It is made with love by a master distiller who produces the gin from only natural ingredients in small (actually, very small) batches to ensure the very highest quality. Add to that the fact that it is made literally a monkey’s throw from Hartlepool where our famous monkey met his fate, and you can easily see why our gin is a stand-out.

To purchase Monkey Hanger gin, you must be of legal age to buy alcohol in the country which you reside. By placing an order with us you are confirming that you are over 18 and agree to an electronic age verification check to confirm this. If we cannot confirm your age via an electronic check, we reserve the right to request proof of age and/or decline to fulfil your order. Orders cannot be dispatched until your age has been verified.
Our gin ships free within the U.K. and is usually dispatched within 2-3 working days from date of order. You can find our complete shipping policy here. Unfortunately, we are currently unable to ship gin internationally. Delivery will only be made to individuals of legal purchase age and our delivery company will require a signature on delivery. Our delivery company will check ID if they are unsure of the recipient’s age.
